For a traveling salesman, promoting their business, good, or service on the road is what they do. But, for the average business owner hitting the road comes once a year at vacation time. This year, plan to plant a few seeds when you go on vacation and you may spurn a geographical growth spurt.

Promote  your business when you travel in the summer of 2009.

As a MyWorldPlus member and associate, I plan to promote my business this year when I go on vacation.  I got the idea a couple of years ago when a friend of mine was going to the Ukraine to visit his family.  I loaded him up with promotional materials and asked him to spread it around.  You may say business should be left at home when leaving for your week or two of no distractions.  At first thought, I cringed at the idea.   Most people go on vacation to get away from the grind, away from the office and off to a retreat to relax.  But then I began to think, what an opportunity to promote my business.  If your product offering or online opportunity is suitable for other geographic areas, you have a chance to plant some seeds and maybe even spurn a growth spurt.   So this is what I panned to do:  To prevent myself from getting into an “all work or some work and no play” situation, I did a little research.  Most tourist towns and hot vacation spots have dozens of tourist attractions that could be suitable for your product or service.  Visiting even one of them for a sales pitch was more than I wanted to do on vacation.  Then, I remembered that my vacation spot probably had a Chamber of Commerce.  If I was going to do one thing, I figured I could get the biggest bank for my buck at one Chamber meeting.  Most local meetings I have been to are free for first time visitors. You will stand out at the meeting.  Believe me, the local business owners will get a kick out of the fact that you are there in the first place and will pay attention to your spill.  Make sure you tell them where you are from and that you are on vacation.   Only time will tell if it pays off but you are destined to make few contacts at a minimum.  Plan to take a stack of business cards and drop them in all the places business cards get dropped.  Restaurants, bulleting boards and the Chamber of Commerce are all good places to leave business cards.  One other consideration may be to take a few fliers or other informational handouts.  I know that working on vacation is an unpopular topic and you will be lucky if your spouse lets you get away with it anyway.  I know work should be left at home when a family goes on vacation, but I sure plan to give it a try.   That being said, Good Luck Entrepreneur.  You know how bad you want to grow that business of yours.  Visit me at http://www.myworldrocks.biz
